| This message board for old members should now work properly, apologies for any problems in the past. | |

| ---though the three previous threads were all posted on board O, not A, so will now be lost to the less geeky portion of mankind. Did I also complain that my email address appears unspamtrapped? It appears unspamtrapped. Everyone else outside ox.ac.uk seems to get a [] around their . . | |

| Don't believe it for a minute, Caroline. They're trying to hide us away in a corner where they don't have to listen to us telling them about the good ol' days when we used to have to use the newsgroup and were even more cliquey than this new lot. | |

| Ah remember, when ah was a novice, eeeeee bhai gum. Coxswain wore a top 'at and tails, and we didn't get a single day of Torpids. The weather was reet biblical that year. Aye..... you young novices today, with yer 'gilets' and yer 'IWL' and yer fancy website - we 'ad to slave over an 'ot usenet server fer 'ours to write a message. Y'ad to take a punch-card with lots of 1s and 0s down to a big computer lab. And when you were there yer'd see CS2, and Edd, and Anu (well e's still there), and Conor, and Stu would be 'avin a row with Pete Hackworth. Or Alisdair Robbie. Or anyone from Oriel 'e could find, really. And most strange of all, George Peridas was only in his 7th year of rowing at ChCh - hard to imagine, eh? ;) Where's me zimmer? It's time for 'Geriatric Rowxcersize' on't Saga channel. Eeeeeeeee James (22 7/12ths yrs) | |

| My god, it's just like ocr risen from the ashes in here. *sigh* it takes me back... I must admit that I am a little shocked that some of you are *still* reading these boards what...3 years after you left Oxford. Makes me feel rather old now for even knowing who you are. | |
braun@mobquad[dot]org | 305 weeks ago |
| Ah, [dotty] bliss. Thanks. Punch cards? Very la-di-dah, punch cards. When I were a novice, if you wanted t'indulge in a bit of mindless banter wi't'crew, you had to rise in the morning about half past five and run around t'college writing notes on bits of paper stuck on people's doors. A reply t'all were like an extra training session. | |

| OCR, now there was a thing... | |
dwlocke@hotmail[dot]com | 305 weeks ago |
| is OCR still alive anywhere? | |
edward.edmondson1@alumni.jesus | 305 weeks ago |
| ox.clubs.rowing still exists on news.ox.ac.uk, but it just doesn't get posts. It's also generally inaccessible outside .ox since the server won't accept connections from the outside world. | |

| Some of us even remember the time when the name "Berners-Lee" was more famous for coxing the Blue Boat than inventing the inter-wotsit. | |
stuart.jones@university-college.oxon | 305 weeks ago |
| > it pretty much died the moment the messageboards appeared You mean I killed OCR? I feel ashamed. :-( | |
