WOMEN’S NOVICE BOATS COACH sought for MAGDALEN COLLEGE in 2018-2019

Required:
• Available for 4 to 6 morning outings a week
• Experience teaching complete beginners
• Experience improving novice crews
• Able to coach while bank riding
• Knowledge of OURCs Isis regulations
• Experience setting ergs and creating circuits

Desirable:
• Experience with Oxford college rowing
• X-status coxing licence
• Good communication skills
• Success in retaining novice rowers
• Plenty of patience and boundless enthusiasm

In Michaelmas term (October - beginning of December) the role will involve training our complete beginner crews to row, including training them to enter the Christ Church regatta in November.
In the new year, novices might trial to move into our blades winning W2, and others will compete in W3/create a new W4 for Torpids and Summer Eights.

These 2-3 novice crews would have two or three outings on the Isis and one gym session (to be set by the coach) per week, totalling 6-12 hours per week of coaching time. Wages competitive - will depend on experience.

Applicants will be invited to an interview with the Women’s Captain (Alice Doyle) and Women’s Vice-Captain (Rebecca Jackson), with the potential for a test outing in 9th/10th week or at the beginning of MT.
