Please try to row all-eight in the gut

| This lunchtime (between 12:15 and 12:30) LMH M2 were twice forced to easy in the gut when trying to do a piece due to crews ahead of us not rowing all-eight through the gut. May I remind everyone of R7.5 b: Crews may only proceed slower than normal full crew paddling allows through the Gut if to do so does not obstruct another crew. We accept that there may have been circumstances of which we were not aware of forcing Hertford M1 and a Somerville women's crew to row in 4's and with bowpair & 7 (I think) respectively through the gut. However it was quite annoying for us to have to slow down doing those pieces as we had to already cut our outing down due to the coxing constraints of blue flag. I do not wish to sound angry about it, and I am very sorry if there was a genuine reason for the above techniques of getting through the gut, however, I ask that crews do row all-eight through the gut, if safe, in the future. Just because there's no crew behind you as you enter the gut doesn't mean one won't catch up. Many Thanks, Ross Stevenson, Captain of Boats LMHBC | |

| Sorry about this - we were takng a novice crew out with two rowers who had never rowed before (5 and 6) so we were going through with stern pair and bow four. As they were novices I was really struggling to steer round the last corner before green bank so had to have most of stroke drop out so we didn't end up in a tree. Again sorry about this - the outing had been organised when the river was still on green flag, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gone ahead with it. Thanks Josie SCWBC Captain | |
