Having searched the internet, I've not been able to find any footage of the Isis racing line from a cox's (or even a bow-cam) point of view.
I think such footage would be very useful for training novice coxes, showing where the bows are pointing, where the blades are relative to the banks and so on - especially after all the unconventional steering we saw in ISL!
So, if any coxes back themselves to row-over and steer a decent racing line in the process, why not film your crew doing it and do next year's coxes a favour? I'll try and get a camera on Somerville W1 at the top of Div 2, but the more the better really - seeing as races don't always go to plan.
Cheers,
Oliver

Thanks for linking that video to this thread, but in all honesty I was hoping we could produce, as a community, something a bit more realistic that people could more easily relate to real steering.
A speeding 8+ with 8ft of blades sticking out on either side, seen from a cox's perspective, looks rather different to the bow of a small launch travelling at a slow pace.

Hi Oliver,

Would some footage from a launch at the back of a division be helpful? If so, I'm sure we could find a way to do some of that to complement the in-a-boat footage.

Best wishes,

Phil

Pembroke M1 bump ChCh in Torpids 2012 (bowcam): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBnMMcSypLs

I'd point out to any novice coxes that both crews steer very slightly into the gut, but much less so than one generally sees. Depending on stream, it may or may not be advisable to tuck in slightly as these crews did.

For more of the course, Balliol's bump on Catz (also bowcam): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBIYOPywoaY

Unfortunately, both are from Div 1 in Torpids so lighting isn't the best, but those are also conditions a cox should be expected to handle (at least in Torpids). I'm not aware of any head-mounted GoPro footage, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I have added some steering commentary to a head cam video I took during eights last year of a Hertford M1 row over. Hope this proves useful.
