Dear all,

*Conditions for Wednesday
*We are waiting to see how the wind pans out; we don't want to have any
coxing restrictions, but you should put X coxes on stand-by in case we do
have to put one in place. The Senior Umpires will make a proper
announcement soon.

*Keep Up With Torpids 2012*
While everyone wants to be at the river for the entirety of Torpids,
despite subjected to my very mediocre commentary, we know that many of you
will be stuck in labs or the library. Fear not - we intend to do all we can
to keep you updated:

   - Twitter: Subscribe to our tweets @ourcs . Important messages will be
tagged with the hashtag #torpids - race commentary will be typed in as it's
   said over the tannoy.
   - "Live bumps" - these will not be live, but will be uploaded to the
homepage matrix once results are confirmed.
   - Pictures: If you have pictures that you would like to share, get in
touch, and we can link to them on the Torpids homepage. We'll also tweet
things we find funny or entertaining.
   - Videos: We hope to film divisions from a static position in Top Gut -
these will get uploaded to YouTube as soon as is possible.

Disclaimer: As much as we hope to provide these services throughout all of
Torpids, there may be periods where we are short on man-power at racedesk.
Obviously, safety and appeals come first; so if Twitter falls silent, you
know things have gotten in the way (or we've lost Internet).

In the absence of anything else cropping up in the next 24 hours, let me
take this time to wish all of you *good luck* - I hope all the hours of
training pay off. Let me also thank in advance: my committee, the Senior
Umpire team, and the racedesk helpers for their assistance. Torpids could
definitely not be run just by myself and Sahil, and it is because of these
people giving up their time (because they love rowing) that we're able to
hold a 5-day event for almost 1700 people.

Here's to Torpids 2012,
Phil McCullough
OURCs Secretary
