Dear all,

Thank you all to a second day of klaxon-free racing! We hope you enjoyed
the sunshine (even though this was not our doing). A couple of gripes to
get out of the way first:

*Timing*
A number of crews today were putting their boats on the water too early.
You should not put your boats on the water until all the people from the
division 2 before yours have all landed; so crews in Women's Division 1
must wait for Women's Division 2 to land.

*Extra Bank Riders*
We are tired of the large number of extra bankriders during races. Just
don't do it.
*Fines for extra bankriders will be increased to 50 per bankrider tomorr=
ow.
*

With that said:

*Saturday's Start Order
*Can be found on the Torpids page. There are two small errors on the 'live
bumps' page, which will be fixed in the near future.

*Blades and Spoons*
A list of crews who are on for coveted blades or prestigious spoons is
posted under 'live blog' for Saturday.

*Friday Videos*
These should be available on our YouTube channel.

*Twitter*
A number of you may have noticed that we lacked commentary during women's
div 2. This was because we had exceeded some sort of tweeting limit.
Commentary was actually tweeted from @ourcs2. If we go silent tomorrow,
chances are we can be located there.

*Friday in Pictures*
We took a number of photos again today. When we get the opportunity to, we
shall sift through them, and put the best on Photobucket/OURCs. This may be
delayed somewhat, as Sahil and I are busy sorting out the aftermath of
today's incident:

*Division I Delay*
Women's and Men's Division 1 today was delayed due to an incident on the
towpath. We heard reports of a man harassing members of the public -
including an elderly man - and a couple of our marshals. The SU immediately
suspended racing while we went to investigate. The police were called, and
swiftly dealt with the source of the problem. A couple of the marshals were
a little shaken by what they had witnessed. They were immediately relieved
of their duties and brought back to race desk. Racing was resumed very
shortly afterwards, once myself, Sahil and the SU were happy that the
situation had been dealt with.

The Committee are in consultation with the Police, the EA, and the
University to make sure that tomorrow's racing remains safe and enjoyable
for all involved. We will be instructing marshals tomorrow to radio in (or
phone us) if they feel that a similar situation is developing, and to call
999 if police are required. Spare marshals will be dispatched to the Head
area to provide extra numbers.

If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.

Best,

Phil McCullough
OURCs Secretary
