Dear all,

I have a few notices for you:

*Eights 2012 - expansion?*
I would like to invite input from all members of the rowing community with
regards to changes that we are considering implementing for this year's
Summer Eights, with the aim of getting more people competing. There is a
forum post on the (now restored) OURCs website here:
http://www.ourcs.org.uk/forums/G/14779
I will be keeping a close eye on the thread, with a view to taking all the
valid points raised to the next captains' meeting.

*City Bumps*
City Bumps, run by CORC, will run this year on the 21st April. This is
Saturday of 0th Week. Racing will take place between 8:30am and 7pm.
College crews are invited to take part - you get to race four times in one
day!
Entry details can be found here:
http://www.oxfordrowingclub.org.uk/bumps.html
Out of courtesy to CORC, the river is *closed to college crews between the
above times for training*. If you wish to make a transit during that day,
you should consult with me, and I will distribute details on how to do this
without causing disruption to their event.

*Breda Rowing Exchange*
Below is an email I have received from Laura Thomson:

*Dear Phil,*

*I'm an ex resident of Oxford who lernt to row on the Isis, I also use to
cox CORC's womens tier 2 squad. *
* Since leaving Oxford 2 years ago I now cox at a Dutch club in Breda where
I live. http://www.rvbreda.nl/ *
*The Mens marsters squad, would like to vist Oxford for 5 days (wed - sun
1st or second week of September) for their training camp. *
*I wondered if there's a possibility of hiering or borrowing a boat off
you? The guys would like to train twice a day morning 7.30am - 10am and
evening 5pm - 8 pm (or there abouts). *
*They've also offered to hold an exchange where members of OURS can visit
our club over here and find out about Dutch rowing and culture. *
*Here's some more information about Breda http://www.breda.nl/breda-in-beeld
*
*I hope to hear from you soon.*

Anyone who would be interested in arranging such an exchange should contact
Laura at laura[ UNDERSCORE]thompson21[AT ]hotmail[ DOT]com

*Extra Vigilance*
During our recent bout of warm weather, it was common for members of the
public to congregate on Boathouse Island. Some of these people have been
spotted many times going up on to the roofs of your boat houses. While this
in itself is trespassing, sometimes these people have been known to be
rowdy. Make sure you take sensible precautions:

   - lock up your boat house fully when it is not in use - shutters
included. Don't leave any valuables such as cox-boxes unattended.
Break-ins, vandalism and thefts are an all-too-common occurrence.
   - If you see suspicious activity, please inform the authorities - the
numbers for the University Security Services and Thames Valley Police can
be found on the back of your Bod cards.
