Pembroke M2's bump on Magdalen M2

I wonder if anyone who was standing on the apex of the gut for mens division 3 on Saturday managed to get a good photo (or video) of Pembroke M2s bump on Magdalen M2?
I am told that by the second half of the gut we had just started to have overlap on them, and the cox conceded just at the end of the gut.
Given that this bump resulted in blades and also the second VIII headship, I would dearly love a good photo of the moment: a bit of overlap coming out the gut, the cox with her hand up or something like that, and am willing to pay a good price for such a thing.
Please email me at thomas.demetriades@pmb.ox.ac.uk if you have, and are willing to share, such a thing, and I will be eternally grateful. :) x

Photos from torpids

I took a few photos of div 6 on Friday and today. Most are of Mansfield. All are grainy and poor. I havent really touched them up much. I only took photos of a couple of crews, but If you like looking at photos of Mansfield, you should be quite content! While waiting for Mansfield to row past, I took a few snaps of some other crews. Ive put them on smugmug. They arent as good as the bigblade photos. I used a little point and shoot camera, and felt quite inadequate standing next to some of the pros with their big manly lenses! They are, however, free.Feel free to download the original digital images. Just click on the picure, and on the top click O - that means the original image (largest) will load. Then you can right click and save it. Anyone else in a sharing mood?Mansfield photos : http://davepit.smugmug.com/gallery/4386174_58Gx7/1/257539749_MNrD7Other photos:http://davepit.smugmug.com/gallery/4390219_UkoFH/1/257782904_NgS2X

Things never change

From the Minutes of the Captains Meeting, May 1st, 1908 (Bodleian MS): ...The President then called attention to the deplorable laxity on the part of Captains of Boat Clubs and coaches in their observation of the printed rules of the river and expressed the wish that every endeavour should be made to rectify this, and his intentention [sic] to exact fines more strictly from delinquents. The Meeting then adjourned.

I have been contacted by a company that produces a cream that is supposed to provide protection for your hands when doing sports such as rowing (among many other things). They are offering free samples in exchange for some feedback so if you are interested please contact them. Their press-release is below:

Skin
Protection for the Hardest Working Hands

The leisurely hobbies you love (and
the dreaded household chores you love less) can often leave your hands in a
neglected and sorry state. Protecting your hands from cleaning and manual
tasks, which can often cause skin sensitivity and dryness, can be easily
achieved by maintaining a regular hand care regime. Hands First, a revolutionary
new hand care treatment, has been specifically designed to effectively protect,
cleanse and condition your hands both before and after manual tasks to keep
them looking and feeling their best.Applied before activities such as
gardening, housework and DIY, Hands First Dry Feel Barrier Cream
is like a pair of invisible gloves. It keeps your hands protected and hydrated,
preventing dirt, grease and detergents from penetrating the skin. The invisible
shield it creates (see diagram) is completely dry and non-sticky, locking in
moisture but allowing your skin to breathe and keeping it clean at the same
time.

For ultra effective cleansing for
busy working hands, use Hands First Power Scrub+ & Moisturiser. Its dual-action
formula contains natural pumice and walnut shell for deep down cleansing and
natural blue cypress oil for skin conditioning. Cutting through ingrained dirt,
grease and grime (see diagram), Hands First Power Scrub+ & Moisturiser has
all the scrubbing effects of a hand exfoliator but with moisturising and
conditioning properties combined.

Hypoallergenic and dermatologically
tested, Hands First Dry Feel Barrier Cream (125ml) and Hands
First Power Scrub+ & Moisturiser (225ml) are priced £7.99 and £5.99
respectively and are available online from www.handsfirst.co.uk from mid July.

Numbers of entries

Interesting that the number of mens Rowing On crews this year is up from 36 last year to 40 this year and the number of womens Rowing On crews is down from 46 to 29. (Going for 25 places each).
Seems that the bad conditions this year have scared all the girls away.
